Background[]
Very little background exists for Gunnar. Julia and Alan discover Gunnar singing Christmas carols beneath the base, tied to a girder. They ask who he is and he says he remembers being a Viking, preacher, and a scientist. He talks about immortality and some sort of falling-out with Hiroshi and Constance that resulted in his imprisonment. He tells them there can only be 500 and that they thought they had found the ultimate gift- immortality. He says to live forever is to die ten thousand times. Gunnar has spent 29 years imprisoned in the base. He claims that Immortals had to chose a side and that Hiroshi imprisoned him. He dreams of killing Hiroshi.
